The SGS 39359 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 15/32 inch (0.4688 inch) cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The two-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and clean edge geometry. A titanium nitride (TiN) finish provides added surface hardness and wear resistance. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this end mill delivers consistent dimensional accuracy within a mill diameter tolerance of plus 0.000 / minus 0.002 inches. It is centercutting, allowing for direct plunge entry. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling operations including slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. With an overall length of 3 inches and a regular-length classification, it fits standard toolholders used in vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. The SGS 39359 is rated for use across multiple workpiece material categories including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and steel — corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is not an extended-reach tool, making it best suited for shallow-to-moderate depth applications where rigidity is a priority.
Compatible with workpiece materials classified under codes H (hardened materials), K (cast iron), M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous metals), P (steel), and S (high-temperature alloys and titanium). Fits any standard 1/2 inch collet or toolholder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following shop-standard tool-change procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a clean, appropriately sized collet or end mill holder before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting to confirm seating. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for a two-flute end mill geometry, as reduced flute count increases chip load per tooth at aggressive feed rates.
