The SGS 39347 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 2-1/2 inch overall length. The two-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A TiN finish increases surface hardness and extends tool life. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the rigidity needed to hold tight tolerances, including a mill diameter tolerance of +0.000 / -0.002 inches. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom professionals working on CNC mills and manual milling machines.
The SGS 39347 is suited for milling operations across multiple workpiece material categories, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, aluminum alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys. Its centercutting design allows for direct plunge entry, making it versatile for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 3/8 inch diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders commonly found in production and job-shop environments. The regular-length geometry is appropriate for general-purpose material removal where extended reach is not required.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard 3/8 inch collets and end mill holders used in CNC and manual milling machine setups.
Installation is performed by machinists using a compatible collet, shrink-fit holder, or set-screw end mill holder rated for the 3/8 inch shank diameter. Verify holder runout before operation to protect the tight shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001 / -0.0004 inches. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material category before beginning a cut. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling.
