The SGS 39309 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch) cutting diameter and a 3/16 inch length of cut, this two-flute tool handles slotting, profiling, and contouring in tight spaces. The micrograin carbide construction and 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and edge stability. A titanium nitride (TiN) finish increases surface hardness and extends tool life. Right-hand cut with right-hand spiral flutes and centercutting capability make it suitable for both plunge and peripheral cutting operations. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is built for Series 3 regular-length applications requiring a compact footprint. The 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and tool holders used on vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills. Compatible workpiece materials include steels (P), stainless steels (M), cast irons (K), non-ferrous metals (N), high-temperature alloys (S), and hardened materials (H), following ISO material group designations. It is well suited for finishing passes and light-to-moderate slotting where dimensional accuracy is critical.
Compatible with ISO workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Fits standard 1/8 inch collets and tool holders on CNC machining centers and conventional vertical mills.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet and torque the collet nut to the tool-holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as micrograin carbide tools are sensitive to excessive runout and can chip at the cutting edge.
