The SGS 39147 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a broad range of materials. With a 3/8 inch diameter and 1 inch length of cut, this single-end tool delivers consistent material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration combined with a 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating reduces friction and extends tool life in production environments. Micrograin carbide construction provides the edge retention required for tight-tolerance work. This tool is typically installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in job shop or manufacturing settings.
The SGS 39147 is suited for milling operations on materials including cast iron, aluminum alloys, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, steel, and titanium alloys, as identified by workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The straight-cylindrical shank and regular-length classification make it compatible with standard ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit tooling used in vertical machining centers and CNC milling machines. Its variable index geometry helps reduce harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard cutting tool for CNC vertical machining centers and manual mills accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the control placed in an appropriate safe state before tooling changes are made. Use calibrated torque on collet nuts per toolholder manufacturer specifications and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use and replace the tool if edge integrity is compromised.
