The SGS 39109 is a single-end square end mill ground from micrograin solid carbide and finish-coated with TiN (Titanium Nitride). It carries a 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch) cutting diameter, a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) length of cut, and a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The four-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle supports efficient chip evacuation at high surface speeds. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in CNC machining centers or manual mills select this tool for precise small-diameter slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations.
This end mill is suited for cutting a broad range of workpiece materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, aluminum and its alloys, and high-temperature superalloys, reflecting its Primary Workpiece Material Codes of H, K, M, N, P, and S. The regular-length geometry and 1-1/2 inch overall length make it a practical choice in tight-tolerance production environments where minimal overhang and rigidity are priorities. It is sold individually and is appropriate for aerospace, die-mold, medical, and general precision machining applications.
Designed for use in standard 1/8 inch straight-shank collets or end mill holders on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and similar machine tools. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the product specifications.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable machine guarding and OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully into a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine tool manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use. Do not exceed the machine tool or toolholder manufacturer recommended runout tolerance, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tools.
