The SGS 39020 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured surfaces, 3D profiles, and complex geometries. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with titanium carbonitride (TiCN), it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in demanding cutting conditions. The ball-nose geometry produces smooth, accurate curved surfaces without secondary finishing operations. With a 0.1563-inch mill diameter, 0.5-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle, it is suited for finish milling passes where dimensional accuracy and surface quality are critical. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this mill in CNC machining centers and high-speed milling applications.
The SGS 39020 is used in production and job-shop environments for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, stainless steels, aluminum, and exotic alloys. Its workpiece material compatibility spans material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad range of metals commonly encountered in aerospace, medical, and general machining. The 3/16-inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end-mill holders. The 4-flute configuration with variable index supports chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Fits standard 3/16-inch collets and end-mill holders on CNC machining centers. Designed as a direct-fit Series 1B single-end ball end mill.
Installation is performed by machinists using standard collet chucks or end-mill holders rated for the 3/16-inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool in the holder. Follow shop-standard feeds and speeds for the workpiece material and coating type; consult the tool manufacturer's cutting data tables before first use.
