The SGS 39015 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. It measures 0.125 inches in diameter with a 0.5-inch length of cut and a 1.5-inch overall length. The 0.125-inch straight-cylindrical shank provides a secure, concentric grip in standard collet chucks and toolholders. Four right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating increases surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. The micrograin carbide substrate supports tight tolerances and consistent edge integrity. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and tool-and-die professionals specify this size for fine detail work and slot milling in demanding applications.
The SGS 39015 is suited for milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, heat-resistant alloys, cast iron, and certain plastics and composites. Its primary workpiece material codes cover cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, titanium and high-temperature alloys, steel, and hardened steel applications. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, which broadens its use in slotting, profiling, and pocket milling routines on CNC machining centers and manual mills running regular-length toolpaths.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and similar machine tools accepting a 0.125-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified in the supplier data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with rotary cutting tool setup. Before changing tooling, power down the spindle completely and confirm the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Secure the shank fully within the collet or toolholder to the recommended engagement depth for the chuck type in use. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut to confirm concentricity and avoid premature edge wear.
