The SGS 39009 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. Built from micrograin carbide and finished with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, this tool offers consistent performance in demanding cutting applications. It features a 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch) mill diameter, a 3/16 inch length of cut, and a 1-1/2 inch overall length with a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The four-flute, right-hand spiral design with variable index geometry supports chip evacuation and surface finish quality in general-purpose and finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills in both production and job-shop environments. The TiCN coating and micrograin carbide substrate make it applicable across multiple workpiece material categories, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon steel, heat-resistant alloys, and non-metallic materials. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional side milling. At 5/64 inch diameter, this is a small-diameter tool intended for fine-feature work, slotting, and detail profiling where tight tolerances are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production end mill compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for workpiece material categories coded H, K, M, N, P, and S per the supplier specification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank fully into a collet or end mill holder and verify runout before initiating a cut. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the controller is in a safe state before tool changes. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material and depth of cut.
