The SGS 39006 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride), it delivers hardness and wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The cutting diameter measures 0.0469 inches (3/64 inches), with a length of cut of 0.1094 inches (7/64 inches) and an overall length of 1.5 inches. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle supports efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes in small-diameter milling work. This tool is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC mills and machining centers.
The SGS 39006 is suited for contour milling, slotting, and profiling operations where a small-diameter ball nose profile is required. The Series 1B designation indicates a regular-length tool, appropriate for standard reach applications. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, and superalloys. The variable index flute spacing helps reduce chatter and vibration during high-speed cuts. The 1/8-inch shank diameter fits standard collets commonly found on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by SGS Series 1B tooling. Fits standard 1/8-inch collets on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. No coolant-through capability; external coolant or air blast is recommended for chip clearing.
This end mill is installed by a machinist or toolroom professional into a compatible collet or toolholder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the tool. Verify collet size matches the 1/8-inch shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable limits before beginning a cut. Follow the machine manufacturer's guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when setting speeds and feeds for small-diameter carbide tooling.
