The SGS 38160 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter, a 0.02 inch corner radius, and four helical flutes arranged for right-hand cutting. The AlTiN coating — SGS designates this as Ti-NAMITE-A — provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in abrasive and hard-material applications. Micrograin carbide construction supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this end mill in CNC and manual milling setups.
This end mill suits precision milling operations in job shop, production, and maintenance environments where corner radii are required to reduce stress concentrations or meet part geometry tolerances. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank fits standard end mill holders. With a 5/8 inch length of cut (0.75 inch decimal), a 2 inch overall length, and a long-length designation, it provides additional reach for deeper pockets and stepped features. It is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as a secondary workpiece category.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills set up for right-hand rotation. Suitable for workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before inserting the shank. Use the appropriate end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout after installation before beginning a cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
