The SGS 38147 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 3/4-inch mill diameter, a 1-1/2-inch length of cut, and a 0.06-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life. The 4-inch overall length and 3/4-inch Weldon flat shank provide rigid, secure seating in end mill holders. A TiCN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, making this tool well-suited for both roughing and finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool in production and job shop environments.
This end mill is built for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It is also rated for hard material secondary applications. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation follow standard CNC milling conventions. The variable index geometry helps suppress chatter during aggressive cuts, improving surface finish across a range of feeds and speeds. The short length type and single-end configuration suit it for standard vertical or horizontal machining center setups where rigidity is a priority.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Compatible with machining centers running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Shank diameter tolerance is h6 for consistent holder fitment.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the tool. Seat the Weldon flat shank securely against the set screw in the end mill holder to prevent axial pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear and compromise corner radius tolerance.
