The SGS 38107 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 0.045 inch corner radius that protects the cutting edge and extends tool life in both roughing and finishing passes. The 4-flute, right-hand helical geometry with a medium helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. This tool ships uncoated and is manufactured from micrograin carbide stock, making it appropriate for machinists and toolroom operators running CNC machining centers or manual mills.
This end mill is well-suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard secondary workpiece materials. The short flute length and 4 inch overall length make it a practical choice for general-purpose cavity work, shoulder milling, and contour profiling where corner strength and dimensional accuracy are required. It is a single-end, centercutting design, allowing plunge entry, and accepts standard end mill holders with a Weldon flat 1 inch shank.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accommodating a 1 inch Weldon flat shank. Compatible with CNC and manual milling setups targeting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per SGS Series 01C application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's setup procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
