The SGS 38068 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 1/2 inch mill diameter, a 0.06 inch corner radius, and 4 right-hand helical flutes with a medium, 30-degree helix angle. The cutting edge measures 1 inch in length of cut, with a 3 inch overall length and a 1/2 inch Weldon flat shank. A TiN (titanium nitride) coating increases surface hardness and wear resistance. This tool is suited for both roughing and finishing operations and is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments.
The SGS 38068 is engineered for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its short-length geometry and variable index design make it well suited for slotting, peripheral milling, and contouring in end mill holders. The corner radius geometry distributes cutting forces more evenly than a square end mill, reducing chipping and extending tool life in demanding applications. It is a single-end, centercutting configuration compatible with standard end mill holder setups on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as listed in the SGS Series 01C product line.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. Secure the Weldon flat shank firmly in the end mill holder to the manufacturer-specified torque using appropriate set screws before operation. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and replace the tool if chipping or wear is observed. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting depth of cut and feed rates.
