The SGS 38059 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in milling operations. Built on the Series 01C platform, it features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.015 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration and extends tool life at the cutting edge. The micrograin carbide construction supports both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. With 4 helical right-hand flutes, a medium helix angle, and a Weldon flat shank, this end mill is suited for use in end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. A licensed machinist or toolroom technician is the typical end user.
The SGS 38059 is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, and is also capable in hard materials as a secondary application. Its short-length geometry and single-end centercutting design make it well suited for slot milling, profiling, and pocket work where rigidity and precise corner geometry are required. The variable index flute spacing helps reduce harmonic chatter during cuts, making it appropriate for both rough stock removal and finish passes without a tool change.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 1/2 inch Weldon flat shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per SGS Series 01C application data.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the holder and torque the set screw per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and confirm speeds and feeds match the workpiece material and depth of cut for this tool diameter.
