The SGS 38049 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Built to a 3/8 inch diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius, it produces radiused edges on workpiece corners to reduce stress concentrations and extend tool life on finished parts. The 4-flute, single-end configuration with a medium helical flute geometry supports both roughing and finishing passes. With a 1 inch length of cut and 2.5 inch overall length, the 38049 is suited for standard-depth profiling, slotting, and contouring operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills. A Weldon flat shank ensures positive drive in end mill holders.
This end mill is intended for use in precision metalworking applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. The micrograin carbide substrate and uncoated bright finish make it a capable choice for shops running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is well suited to production machining environments where dimensional consistency and corner integrity are required. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC toolpaths.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the SGS Series 01C corner radius end mill line.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the Weldon flat shank firmly in a compatible end mill holder, ensuring the set screw engages the flat to prevent pullout under load. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate settings are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut before initiating a program. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use and replace the tool if edge integrity is compromised.
