The SGS 37182 is a solid carbide single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. It has a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter, 5 flutes with a variable index geometry, and an AlTiN coating that improves heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The flutes are right-hand spiral with a maximum helix angle of 37 degrees. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This tool is suited for machinists and toolroom professionals running CNC or manual milling equipment.
The SGS 37182 fits applications where high material removal rates are the priority over a fine surface finish, making it well suited for roughing passes on hardened steels, stainless, and alloys. With a 1/2 inch length of cut, a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance, and an overall length of 2 inches, it fits standard collets and end mill holders sized for 3/16 inch shanks. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed roughing strategies where chip evacuation and heat management are critical. The regular-length profile keeps it rigid in deep pockets and slotting operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit roughing end mill for any standard end mill holder or collet chuck accepting a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tool safety practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully de-energized and locked out before loading or changing the tool. Seat the shank to the correct engagement depth in the collet or holder per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines, and verify runout before engaging the cut. Do not use this tool as a centercutting end mill, as this part is not rated for plunge entry.
