The SGS 37008 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 0.25 inch cutting diameter, a 0.375 inch length of cut (LOC), and a 2.5 inch overall length (OAL), making it well-suited for tight-tolerance work in a standard milling setup. The 5-flute variable-pitch spiral design with a 37-degree helix angle supports efficient chip evacuation and reduces chatter during cuts. A titanium nitride (TiN) finish increases surface hardness and extends tool life compared to uncoated carbide. This is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool in the SGS Series Z5 lineup, installed by machinists and CNC operators in shop and production environments.
The SGS 37008 is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and hardened materials where a fine surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. Its regular-length geometry and 0.25 inch shank diameter fit standard ER collets and end mill holders used on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. The variable pitch fluting helps suppress harmonic vibration in both roughing and finishing passes, making it a practical choice for general-purpose slot milling, profiling, and peripheral cuts in production and toolroom settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for 0.25 inch end mill holders, ER16 or ER11 collet chucks, and compatible shrink-fit holders used on vertical machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clean in the collet or holder before torquing the retention nut to the holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material.
