The SGS 36865 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal removal and finishing operations. Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with end mill toolholders, it features a 7/16 inch diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.02 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at workpiece corners. The four-flute, single-end geometry delivers both roughing and finishing capability in a single tool. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in high-heat cutting environments. The variable helix and variable index design reduces harmonics and chatter, improving surface finish at aggressive feed rates.
This end mill is suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is a strong choice for aerospace, tooling, and precision machining shops that need consistent corner geometry across production runs. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive engagement in standard end mill toolholders, making it practical for high-torque operations without slippage. It is intended for right-hand cutting with a right-hand flute direction, and is classified under the Series ZPCR micrograin carbide platform.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Not center-cutting; not suited for direct plunge entry.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the Weldon flat shank firmly in the toolholder to the flat before tightening the set screw. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut being applied.
