The SGS 36744 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal and finishing in demanding machining environments. It features a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) mill diameter, a 1.2500 inch length of cut, and a 0.1250 inch corner radius, making it well-suited for blending radii and reducing stress concentrations at corners of milled features. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration supports both roughing and finishing operations. Part of the SGS Z-Carb-AP ZPCR series, this end mill is built from micrograin solid carbide and carries a TX coating for extended tool life. Shank diameter matches the mill diameter at 5/8 inch with an h6 tolerance and includes a Weldon flat for positive drive retention in compatible toolholders.
This end mill is intended for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is a single-end, short-length tool with a 3.5 inch overall length, suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where rigidity and precision corner blending are required. The variable index and variable helix geometry help reduce chatter and harmonics during aggressive cuts. This tool is installed and changed out by machinists and toolroom technicians working with end mill toolholders on both horizontal and vertical spindle setups.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch Weldon flat shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as noted in the SGS ZPCR series specifications.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat fully against the setscrew in the toolholder and torque the setscrew per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation and before cutting to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
