The SGS 36722 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding material applications. It features a 3/16 inch diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius and a 7/16 inch length of cut, making it well suited for both roughing and finishing operations. The tool carries an AlTiN (TX) coating and incorporates a variable helix and variable index geometry to reduce harmonic chatter and improve surface finish. Four helical, right-hand flutes provide efficient chip evacuation across a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops or production environments will find this end mill a direct fit for standard end mill holders with a straight-cylindrical shank.
The SGS 36722 is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard secondary materials. Its variable helix geometry makes it appropriate for applications where chatter suppression is critical, such as deep-wall pocket milling or profiling on difficult-to-machine alloys. The single-end configuration and 2 inch overall length suit it to standard vertical or horizontal CNC machining centers. It is not center-cutting, so plunge entry is not recommended without a pilot hole or ramping strategy.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard secondary workpiece materials per SGS Series ZPCR application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the holder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and verify that feed and speed parameters are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
