The SGS 36629 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 66CR specifications, it features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and 7 flutes with a right-hand spiral and close pitch for fine surface finish and chip evacuation. The TX (AlTiN-style) coating extends tool life when cutting ferrous and hard materials at elevated temperatures. With a 1 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length, this single-end mill is suited for finishing passes where edge integrity and dimensional accuracy are critical. Machinists and toolroom technicians select this tool for precision contouring, slotting, and profiling on CNC machining centers.
This end mill is intended for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. It fits standard end mill toolholders with a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank and is suited for close-tolerance work in aerospace, die and mold, and general precision machining environments. The right-hand cutting direction and medium helix angle make it a practical choice for both roughed-and-finished workpieces and semi-finish passes on hardened stock.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium; secondary application covers hard materials.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician on a CNC or manual milling machine. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or powered-down state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as corner radius end mills are sensitive to runout-induced chipping at the nose radius.
