The SGS 36620 is a 7-flute solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding materials. It carries an AlTiN coating and a 35-degree spiral flute geometry that supports aggressive chip evacuation and heat resistance at the cutting zone. The 3/16 inch diameter and 5/8 inch length of cut make it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes in tight pockets and slots. Built from micrograin carbide stock, this is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute, centercutting tool rated for use across a broad range of workpiece material classes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals select this geometry when tool deflection and surface finish tolerance are the primary concerns.
The SGS 36620 is designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a straight-cylindrical shank is required. Primary workpiece material codes listed are H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys. The regular-length body and 2 inch overall length fit standard collet and end mill holder setups without requiring extended reach tooling. It is sold individually and is a single-end tool, meaning it is replaced rather than reground when worn.
Designed as a straight-cylindrical shank end mill compatible with standard ER collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks sized for 3/16 inch shank tooling.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank in a clean, properly sized collet or holder and torque to the holder manufacturer's specification before cutting. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before engaging the workpiece, as runout accelerates wear on small-diameter carbide tools. Never use this tool in a worn or undersized collet that cannot maintain consistent shank grip.
