The SGS 36617 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-efficiency material removal and finishing in demanding machining applications. It features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a corner radius of 0.0300 inches with a tolerance of -0.0020 to 0.0000 inches. The 4-flute, variable helix geometry reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation across a wide range of cutting conditions. An AlTiN coating under SGS proprietary designation Ti-NAMITE-A provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when machining abrasive or hard materials. The 3.25-inch overall length and 0.5-inch Weldon flat shank make this tool compatible with standard end mill toolholders. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool suited for milling operations on CNC machining centers.
This end mill is engineered for roughing and finishing operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The variable helix and micrograin carbide substrate make it well suited for interrupted cuts and high-speed applications where tool rigidity and edge retention are critical. It is intended for use in production and job shop environments where consistent corner geometry is required on pockets, slots, and profiled surfaces. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive retention in standard toolholders.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat shank securely in the toolholder and torque the set screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cutting operation, as excessive runout will accelerate corner radius wear and compromise dimensional accuracy.
