The SGS 36436 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. Built to Series Z1 standards, this 4-flute tool features a variable helix and variable index geometry that reduces chatter and harmonic vibration during cutting, improving surface finish and tool life. The AlTiN coating adds heat resistance and hardness, making it well-suited for elevated-temperature cutting environments. At 9/16 inches in diameter with a 1-1/8 inch length of cut and 3-1/2 inch overall length, this end mill is sized for standard roughing and finishing operations in a variety of workpiece materials. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC milling centers and manual knee mills.
The SGS 36436 is suited for milling hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, heat-resistant super alloys, and non-ferrous materials, corresponding to workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders. This tool is classified as a regular-length end mill and is appropriate for side milling, slotting, and peripheral profiling operations where a non-centercutting design is acceptable. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation align with standard CNC spindle rotation.
Designed for use in standard collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 9/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for milling workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists on CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify collet size and holder runout tolerance before use, as runout directly affects tool life and surface finish. This is a non-centercutting end mill and should not be used for direct plunge drilling operations.
