Product Description

The SGS 35682 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 3/8-inch mill diameter, a 1-1/2-inch length of cut, and a 0.01-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in demanding roughing operations. The three-flute, right-hand helical geometry paired with a TiB2 (Ti-NAMITE-B) coating provides a low-friction surface well suited for aluminum, copper, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. This tool is part of the SGS Series 43CR long-length line and is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in CNC milling and machining center applications.

This end mill is engineered for roughing cuts in non-ferrous metals where a longer reach is required. The 4-inch overall length and straight cylindrical shank fit standard end mill holders used in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The single-end, center-cutting design allows plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling. The coarse pitch and high helix angle promote chip evacuation in gummy materials like aluminum alloys, reducing built-up edge and heat at the cutting zone.

Key Features

  • 0.01-inch corner radius reduces edge chipping and stress risers during roughing passes
  • TiB2 (Ti-NAMITE-B) coating lowers friction and resists adhesion on non-ferrous workpiece materials
  • Three right-hand helical flutes with coarse pitch for aggressive chip evacuation
  • Long-length Series 43CR design provides extended reach for deep-pocket and cavity work
  • Straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance for precise fitment in end mill holders
  • Single-end, center-cutting geometry supports plunge, slot, and peripheral milling operations

Compatibility

Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Rated for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials (Material Application Code: N). Part of the SGS Series 43CR long corner radius end mill line.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully in the end mill holder to the minimum recommended engagement depth before torquing the retention mechanism. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before initiating a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling. Never exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut being used.
