The SGS 35618 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in profiling and pocketing operations. With 3 helical flutes and a high-helix geometry, this tool promotes efficient chip evacuation in aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1/2 inch in diameter, compatible with standard end mill holders. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool in the SGS Series 43CR. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on non-ferrous metals in CNC machining centers and manual mills. The long-length configuration with a 4 inch overall length provides reach for deeper cavity work. The coarse pitch and high helix angle make it well matched for aggressive material removal in aluminum and other gummy, soft metals where chip packing is a common concern. It is run without coolant-through capability, so flood or mist coolant applied externally is standard practice for this tool class.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders and collet-style toolholding systems accepting a 1/2 inch straight shank. Intended for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials as designated by material application code N.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or changing tooling. Confirm shank engagement depth meets the toolholder manufacturer minimum - insufficient engagement increases runout and tool pull-out risk. External flood or mist coolant is recommended during cutting since this tool does not support coolant-through delivery.
