The SGS 35599 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precise material removal in non-ferrous metal machining applications. It features a 1/2 inch mill diameter, a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) length of cut, and a 0.0300 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 38-degree high helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. At 3 inches overall length with a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, this short-length end mill fits standard end mill toolholders and is well-suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where rigidity and accuracy matter.
This end mill is intended for roughing operations in non-ferrous metals where a corner radius profile is required to blend floor-to-wall transitions or protect part edges from sharp-corner stress cracking. The bright uncoated finish makes it a direct choice for aluminum and other non-ferrous materials where coatings can cause built-up edge. It is a single-end tool in the SGS Series 43CR lineup, configured for right-hand cutting direction. Machinists, CNC programmers, and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops, aerospace fabrication, or production environments will find this a straightforward drop-in for standard end mill toolholding setups.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal. Not centercutting; plunge entry is not recommended without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable shop safety procedures. Ensure the toolholder is clean and the shank seats fully before torquing the retention mechanism to the toolholder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after setup, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and degrade corner radius geometry. Do not use this tool on ferrous materials, as the bright uncoated carbide substrate is not optimized for steel or cast iron cutting.
