The SGS 35598 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.015 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the base of milled features. The tool runs in a right-hand cutting direction with a high-helix, helical flute geometry and a coarse pitch suited to roughing operations. Three flutes and a straight-cylindrical shank make this a compact, single-end tool intended for use in standard end mill holders on CNC mills and machining centers.
This end mill is built for machining non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. Its short-length configuration keeps deflection low, making it appropriate for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling passes where a radiused corner is required. The uncoated bright finish is a common choice for non-ferrous applications where coating buildup on the cutting edge can be a concern. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments will find this tool fits standard 1/2 inch end mill holders without modification.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Intended for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials as indicated by SGS Series 43CR application guidelines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out state per shop safety procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a clean, properly sized end mill holder and tighten to the holder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as solid carbide tooling can fracture if run with existing edge damage. Confirm workpiece material and recommended speeds and feeds against the SGS Series 43CR data sheet before beginning the operation.
