The SGS 35511 is a 4-flute, solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals and similar materials. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, 1 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length with a straight cylindrical 1/2 inch shank. The TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance. A 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. This is a centercutting tool, meaning it can be used for plunge operations as well as peripheral and slot milling. It is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration, which is standard for the majority of CNC machining centers and manual mills. Machinists and toolroom professionals specify this Series 54 tool for general-purpose milling operations.
This end mill is suited for milling non-ferrous metals including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials where TiCN coating delivers optimal performance without built-up edge. The regular-length geometry and 1 inch length of cut make it appropriate for standard depth slot milling, profiling, and contouring operations on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. It is a single-end tool. The straight shank is compatible with standard ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and hydraulic chucks sized for 1/2 inch tooling.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with 1/2 inch tool holders, ER collet systems, or side-lock arbors. Optimized for primary use in non-ferrous metal applications per Series 54 specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Confirm holder runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning a cut, as excess runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish. Do not exceed the recommended length of cut of 1 inch; deeper axial engagements increase deflection risk with this tool length.
