The SGS 35503 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This single-end tool features a 5/32-inch (0.1563-inch) cutting diameter, a 9/16-inch length of cut, and a 3/16-inch shank diameter, with a 2-inch overall length. The TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding cutting applications. A 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation. The centercutting design allows plunge milling in addition to standard peripheral cutting. Machinists and toolroom operators working in CNC machining centers and manual mills are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and plunge operations in precision machining environments. The 4-flute configuration delivers a good balance of chip clearance and surface finish, making it appropriate for finishing passes in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and similar materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute are standard for conventional CNC setups. At 2 inches overall length, this tool fits compact workholding setups and short-reach applications where rigidity is critical to maintaining dimensional tolerance.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for standard 3/16-inch collet or end mill holder setups in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation requires a compatible collet, end mill holder, or shrink-fit toolholder sized for a 3/16-inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool to confirm it is within acceptable tolerance for the intended operation. Follow shop safety protocols and machine manufacturer guidelines for maximum RPM and depth-of-cut recommendations.
