The SGS 35487 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a 7/16-inch cutting diameter and a 1-inch length of cut, this four-flute tool delivers efficient material removal and a smooth finish on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The uncoated solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance in a wide range of materials. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in job shop, toolroom, and production environments.
The SGS 35487 is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual milling machines. Its centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry, giving operators flexibility in toolpath strategy. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is the standard setup for conventional milling machines and CNC machining centers. A 7/16-inch shank diameter matches directly to ER collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks of the same bore size, keeping runout minimal.
Designed for use in standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling chucks with a 7/16-inch bore, compatible with vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers and manual knee mills accepting a 7/16-inch shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the tool holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specifications before initiating any cut. Inspect the collet or end mill holder for wear, contamination, or damage before seating the tool, as these conditions increase runout and reduce tool life. Never exceed the manufacturer-rated speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut being applied.
