The SGS 35480 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) cutting diameter and a 5/8 inch length of cut, this tool delivers accurate material removal in a compact form factor. The 4-flute configuration and 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry follow standard milling conventions. The uncoated solid carbide construction provides rigidity and edge retention in a wide range of workpiece materials. This is a center-cutting end mill, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece.
The SGS 35480 is suited for finish and semi-finish milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites. The 1/4 inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders used in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. With a 2-1/2 inch overall length, the tool maintains stiffness and minimizes deflection in typical shallow-to-medium depth applications. It belongs to the SGS Series 54 product line, an uncoated spiral-flute offering intended for general-purpose milling work.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production end mill compatible with 1/4 inch collets and end mill holders on standard vertical machining centers and CNC mills. Part of the SGS Series 54 uncoated solid carbide end mill line.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state. Ensure the collet or end mill holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Tighten the tool holder to the machine spindle per the equipment manufacturer torque guidance. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts to confirm proper seating and avoid premature tool wear.
