The SGS 35312 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals and similar materials. It features a 9/16-inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/8-inch length of cut, and a 3-1/2-inch overall length. The two-flute geometry paired with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in aluminum, brass, copper, and other gummy non-ferrous workpiece materials. A TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in production environments. The straight cylindrical shank measures 9/16 inches in diameter for direct collet or end mill holder mounting.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual mills running non-ferrous stock in job shop, production, and maintenance-repair operations. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece face, enabling slotting, pocketing, profiling, and ramping operations without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The right-hand cut with right-hand spiral flute configuration is the standard setup for conventional and climb milling on most machine tool spindles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for solid carbide square end mills in the SGS Series 52 product family, fitting standard 9/16-inch collets, end mill holders, and hydraulic or shrink-fit toolholding systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the controller is in an E-stop or tool-change state before handling or seating the tool. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 9/16-inch shank diameter and torque the retention hardware according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use, and confirm runout with a dial indicator when tight tolerances are required.
