The SGS 35308 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. It features a 5/16-inch cutting diameter, a 13/16-inch length of cut, and a 2-1/2-inch overall length. The two-flute geometry and 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish adds surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in production and job-shop environments. This is a centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece as well as cut along the periphery. Machinists and toolroom technicians typically select this end mill for slotting, profiling, and pocket-milling applications.
The SGS 35308 is suited for use on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual mills when working with non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. Its regular-length profile fits standard tool holders without extended-reach adapters. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is the standard orientation for most vertical milling setups. This end mill is sold individually and is appropriate for both production environments and precision repair or prototype work.
Designed as a standard-shank square end mill for use in collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems that accept a 5/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's guidelines for tool holding and runout tolerances. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the end mill. Verify shank engagement depth meets the tool holder manufacturer's minimum grip length recommendation. Always confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before initiating a cut with this tool.
