The SGS 35304 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking and machining applications. With a 3/16 inch cutting diameter and a 9/16 inch length of cut, this two-flute tool is suited for slotting, profiling, and light pocketing operations. The TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) finish provides enhanced wear resistance and surface hardness compared to uncoated carbide. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute geometry is standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups. This tool is installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
The SGS 35304 fits residential and commercial machine shop environments where tight-tolerance milling is required. Its 3/16 inch shank diameter matches standard ER and collet chuck toolholding in that size range. The 2 inch overall length keeps the tool rigid in setups where reach is limited. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, expanding its utility across profiling, ramping, and helical interpolation operations. Typical applications include milling aluminum, steel, stainless, and similar engineering alloys on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Designed for use in standard collet chucks and ER toolholders accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter. Compatible with CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with appropriate toolholding for this shank size.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in a safe state. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cutting. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines when setting speeds and feeds for the workpiece material.
