The SGS 35285 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. Built to Series 52 standards, this centercutting tool features a 0.375 inch mill diameter, a 0.875 inch length of cut, and a 2.5 inch overall length. The 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard collets and tool holders. Two right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle clear chips efficiently and maintain cut quality in aluminum, brass, copper, and comparable workpiece materials. This is an uncoated tool suited for machinists and tool-and-die shops that require tight tolerances and consistent edge geometry on non-ferrous applications.
The SGS 35285 fits standard CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and benchtop mills wherever a 3/8 inch collet or end mill holder is available. Its regular-length profile makes it appropriate for general-purpose profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling in non-ferrous metal stock. The centercutting geometry also allows plunge entry, expanding its use to pocket milling without a pre-drilled entry point. This tool is well suited to production shops and maintenance machining environments handling aluminum extrusions, plate, and cast non-ferrous components.
Designed for use with standard 3/8 inch collets and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Primary workpiece material designation is non-ferrous metal (material code N), consistent with aluminum, brass, copper, and similar alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention hardware according to the tool holder manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and do not run this uncoated carbide tool on ferrous materials, as doing so will reduce tool life significantly.
