The SGS 35108 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the Series 51L platform, it features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, 6 flutes, and a 41-degree helix angle with variable index geometry that reduces harmonic vibration and improves surface finish. The titanium nitride (TiN) coating increases surface hardness and extends tool life in abrasive materials. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the toughness and rigidity required for aggressive cuts in difficult-to-machine alloys. This end mill is designed for use by machinists and tooling specialists working in CNC milling environments.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, titanium alloys, and high-temperature superalloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The long-length configuration with a 2.25-inch reach length makes it appropriate for deep-pocket milling, side-wall finishing, and applications requiring extended tool projection beyond the holder. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry. Right-hand cut with right-hand spiral fluting.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with standard 0.5-inch collets or end mill holders. Suitable for material groups H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, titanium, and superalloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before tool changes. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth to minimize runout and prevent pull-out under load. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, particularly for tight-tolerance applications.
