The SGS 34860 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling of non-ferrous metals and similar materials. It features a 0.2500 inch mill diameter, a 1.0000 inch length of cut, and a 3.0000 inch overall length. The three-flute geometry with a 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A TiB2 (titanium diboride) coating improves surface hardness and reduces built-up edge when cutting aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals, this end mill fits standard CNC machining centers and manual knee mills using a 1/4 inch collet or end mill holder.
The SGS 34860 is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in non-ferrous metals. Its centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The straight-cylindrical shank and regular-length classification make it a practical general-purpose tool for production shops and job shops running aluminum or other non-ferrous alloys. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional CNC and manual milling setups.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with a 1/4 inch collet or end mill holder. Primary workpiece material classification is non-ferrous metal (material code N), including aluminum, brass, and copper alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tooling setup procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank to the recommended insertion depth in the collet or holder and torque to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
