The SGS 34834 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. With a 5/8-inch cutting diameter, a 3-1/4-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, this tool handles deep-reach slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling where rigidity and edge retention matter. The 3-flute geometry balances chip evacuation with cutting efficiency, making it well suited for aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The SGS 34834 is intended for non-ferrous metal milling applications in both production shop and precision machining environments. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry, eliminating the need for a pre-drilled pilot hole in many operations. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard 5/8-inch collets and end mill holders. The 38-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip flow and reduces cutting forces, which is particularly beneficial when machining gummy or stringy non-ferrous alloys. Regular-length classification makes this tool appropriate for general-purpose setups where extended reach is not required.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard 5/8-inch collet chucks or end mill holders. Primary workpiece material compatibility is non-ferrous metals (material code N), including aluminum, brass, and copper alloys. Part of the SGS Series 43 end mill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation to confirm proper seating before beginning a cut.
