The SGS 34786 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for material removal in non-ferrous metal machining applications. It features a 3/4-inch mill diameter, a 1-5/8-inch length of cut, and a 0.06-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life compared to sharp-corner geometry. With 3 flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration and a high helix style, this end mill promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The bright uncoated finish is well suited for aluminum, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials where coating adhesion or built-up edge can be a concern.
This end mill is intended for use in machining centers and CNC milling operations targeting non-ferrous metals. The straight cylindrical shank with 3/4-inch diameter is compatible with standard end mill toolholders. With a 4-inch overall length and coarse pitch flute geometry, the 34786 is positioned for roughing passes where aggressive material removal rates are the priority. It is sold as a single-end tool and is typically run by machinists and toolroom operators in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (material code N), including aluminum and similar alloys. Part of the SGS Series 43CR product line.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per standard machine safety procedures. Ensure the toolholder collet or set-screw bore matches the 3/4-inch shank diameter before securing. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates corner radius wear and reduces dimensional accuracy. Cutting parameters should be selected based on workpiece material, machine rigidity, and coolant strategy — consult the SGS Series 43CR speeds and feeds documentation for starting recommendations.
