The SGS 34780 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 0.0600-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in high-cycle production environments. The 38-degree high helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, which is critical when machining aluminum, copper, brass, and similar materials. With three right-hand spiral flutes and a straight cylindrical shank, this tool mounts directly into standard end mill toolholders. It is intended for single-end use by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace shops, and general manufacturing facilities.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on non-ferrous metals where a corner radius profile is required to blend floor-to-wall transitions or reduce corner chipping. The coarse pitch geometry supports aggressive material removal rates in aluminum and other gummy materials. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for non-ferrous workpieces where coating adhesion or heat buildup from harder materials is not a concern. It fits standard end mill toolholders with a 0.5-inch bore and is compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped for straight-shank tooling.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal. Part of the SGS Series 43CR product line.
This tool is installed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank are clean and free of chips before seating the end mill to the correct gauge length. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the workpiece material, and verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits to avoid premature tool wear or breakage.
