The SGS 34748 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metal machining applications. Built to Series 43 specifications, it features a 0.75-inch cutting diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length with a straight cylindrical 0.75-inch shank. The TiB2 (titanium diboride) coating reduces friction and improves tool life when cutting aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous materials. A 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the three-flute spiral configuration balances cutting speed with surface finish quality. This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop environments.
The SGS 34748 is suited for milling non-ferrous metals in both vertical and horizontal machining center setups. Its regular-length geometry fits standard toolholders and collet chucks without extended-reach adapters. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are consistent with conventional CNC spindle configurations. This end mill is not centercutting, so it is not intended for direct plunge operations. Side milling, slotting, and profiling passes in aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous workpiece materials represent its primary use case.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.75-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material compatibility is non-ferrous metals per Series 43 application data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or removing any cutting tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before commencing cutting operations, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on a three-flute geometry.
