The SGS 34747 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 3/4-inch cutting diameter with a 1-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length, making it a standard-reach tool well suited for slot milling, profiling, and pocketing operations. Three spiral flutes with a 38-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation at elevated feed rates. A TiB2 (titanium diboride) coating improves surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. This is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration from SGS Series 43.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where non-ferrous metal removal is the primary operation. The 3/4-inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders of the same bore diameter. Its regular-length classification and non-extended-reach geometry make it a direct fit for shallow-to-medium depth features in production and job-shop environments. Machinists and toolroom professionals working with aluminum plate, extrusions, and non-ferrous castings will find this geometry particularly productive.
Designed for use with non-ferrous metals (material code N), including aluminum, brass, and copper alloys. Fits any toolholder accepting a 3/4-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before loading or removing the tool. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and torque the retention hardware to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a test indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
