The SGS 34742 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 0.5000 inch cutting diameter, a 3.1250 inch length of cut, and a 6.0000 inch overall length. Three spiral flutes with a 38-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The TiB2 (titanium diboride) finish reduces friction and extends tool life in aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous materials. This is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool on a straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills used by tool-and-die machinists, production machinists, and job shop operators.
The SGS 34742 belongs to the SGS Series 43 end mill line, which is engineered specifically for non-ferrous metals (workpiece material code N). The regular-length geometry and 0.5000 inch shank diameter make it a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in aluminum and other soft non-ferrous alloys. This tool is not centercutting and is not intended for plunge cuts. It suits production environments where consistent dimensional accuracy and surface finish are required across medium-to-long length-of-cut applications of 2.0000 inches and greater.
Designed as a Series 43 solid carbide square end mill for use in non-ferrous metal machining applications. Compatible with tool holders accepting a 0.5000 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for a 0.5000 inch shank to minimize runout. Verify tool projection and overhang comply with the machine manufacturer guidelines before starting the cut.
