The SGS 34708 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals and similar materials. Built to Series 43 specifications, this single-end tool features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length. The 3-flute geometry with a 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes in aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The straight cylindrical shank measures 5/16 inch in diameter with a tight tolerance of +0.00000/-0.00035 inches, ensuring accurate tool holding in standard collet chucks and end mill holders.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills operating on non-ferrous stock. Its regular length classification makes it appropriate for standard-depth pocketing, slotting, and profiling operations where extended reach is not required. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute configuration is the industry-standard setup for conventional and climb milling on non-ferrous materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with aluminum plate, bar stock, or cast components will find this tool a reliable fit for general-purpose work.
Designed for milling non-ferrous metals (Material Code N) including aluminum, brass, and copper alloys. Compatible with standard 5/16 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems that accept straight cylindrical shanks.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder to the recommended gauge length and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial test indicator before beginning a production cut, particularly in tight-tolerance applications.
