The SGS 34680 is a single-end, square-profile solid carbide end mill designed for high-efficiency material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Built to Series 47E specifications, it features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 0.625-inch length of cut, and a 35-degree helix angle that promotes chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup during aggressive cuts. The TiB2 (titanium diboride) coating provides a low-friction surface ideal for gummy non-ferrous materials. With a 6-inch overall length and 2.125-inch reach length, this tool suits setups requiring extended reach without sacrificing rigidity. A micrograin carbide substrate delivers fine edge retention at elevated feed rates. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments rely on this geometry for consistent, burr-free results in aluminum alloy work.
The SGS 34680 is intended for milling aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous materials where chip welding and built-up edge are primary concerns. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute configuration and center-cutting capability allow plunge entry and full-slot or peripheral milling operations. The straight 0.5-inch shank fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders on vertical machining centers and CNC routers. Extended-reach geometry makes it suitable for deeper pockets and tall workpiece profiles where a standard-length tool cannot reach the floor of the feature.
Designed for use in aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials (material code N) in CNC machining center applications. Fits any 0.5-inch ID end mill holder, ER collet chuck, or milling chuck on standard vertical or horizontal machining centers.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in a safe state per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended gauge line and torque the retention mechanism according to the holder manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each setup. This tool does not support coolant-through delivery — use external flood or mist coolant directed at the cutting zone for best results in aluminum.
