The SGS 34509 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling of non-ferrous metals and similar materials. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With 2 right-hand spiral flutes and a centercutting geometry, this tool handles both peripheral and plunge cuts. The stub-length configuration and Weldon flat shank provide rigidity and secure tool holding in standard end mill holders. This tool is sold individually and is suited for use by machinists, toolmakers, and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments.
The SGS 34509 is a Series 44 stub-length end mill intended for milling operations on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. Its 2-flute design provides greater chip clearance compared to higher-flute-count tools, making it well suited for softer, gummier materials that tend to load flutes. The 3/8 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, allowing use in standard 3/8 inch collets or end mill holders. The overall length of 2-1/2 inches keeps the tool compact for improved rigidity in short-reach applications.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling option for 3/8 inch end mill holders and collet chucks used in vertical machining centers, manual knee mills, and CNC milling machines working with non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the holder and torque the set screw per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut.
