The SGS 33468 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a 0.03-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at part edges and extends tool life. The 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A TiB2 (titanium diboride) coating provides enhanced hardness and reduced friction at the cutting edge. This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 33468 is suited for finish and semi-finish milling operations where edge integrity and dimensional accuracy are critical. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, enabling slot milling and ramping without a pre-drilled start hole. The coarse pitch and three-flute geometry offer a balance of chip clearance and surface finish quality. Typical applications include profiling, contouring, and pocketing in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and side-lock toolholders common in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed as a Series 43 solid carbide corner radius end mill with a 0.5-inch shank diameter, compatible with standard 0.5-inch ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit toolholders used in CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing any cutting tool. Seat the shank to the full recommended grip length in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, and confirm appropriate speeds and feeds for the workpiece material before engaging the cut.
