The SGS 33408 is a solid carbide roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built with three flutes and a chipbreaker geometry, it breaks chips into shorter segments to reduce recutting and heat buildup during heavy cuts. The 1/2 inch diameter, 0.03 inch corner radius, and coarse pitch spiral flutes work together to improve chip evacuation and cutting stability. At 1.625 inches length of cut and 4 inches overall length, it fits standard toolholding setups on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals install and run this tool in production and job shop environments.
This roughing end mill suits applications where high material removal rate is the priority over surface finish. It performs well in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where coarse-pitch chipbreaker geometry reduces cutting forces and deflection. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction make it compatible with conventional right-hand spindle setups. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits precision collets and end mill holders for consistent runout control.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and hydraulic toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills with right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Use a calibrated torque wrench on set screws or a properly sized collet nut to secure the shank without overloading the h6 tolerance fit. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and confirm the toolpath and feeds-and-speeds are appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the spindle.
