The SGS 33407 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut (LOC), and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the base of a cut and extends tool life compared to sharp-corner tooling. The 3-flute geometry balances chip evacuation and surface finish, making it well suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes. The bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for applications where coating buildup or heat transfer characteristics favor bare carbide. This end mill is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
The SGS 33407 is used in vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual milling machines capable of holding a 1/2 inch shank. The coarse pitch, right-hand cut, and right-hand spiral flute geometry make it a general-purpose tool suited for ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a centercutting end mill with plunge capability is required. The 3 inch overall length (OAL) and 38-degree helix angle support stable cutting in medium-depth pockets and slots. It is appropriate for prototype work, toolroom applications, and short-run production milling.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles accepting a 1/2 inch shank diameter. Verify machine spindle runout and holder concentricity before use to maintain dimensional tolerance.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the tool from the holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated to the recommended engagement depth in the collet or holder and that the collet nut is torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each run, and confirm correct speeds and feeds for the workpiece material before initiating a cut.
